In fall 2022, Grant completed work as the lead editor, sound designer and mixer for a two part series for National Geographic International titled “Eyewitness WWII:Invasion Italy”.  He worked with the world class documentary makers Lou Reda Productions in Easton, PA.  The story was told entirely from the writings, autobiographies and memoirs of generals, officers and enlisted men that served in the Italian campaign in WWII from 1943 to 1945.  The show is streaming on Fox Nation in the US and is titled “Forgotten Front: invasion of Italy.”

“There You Found Me” is a short film that was brought to my attention in December 2021 and I agreed to do the editing, music and sound for the film by Jonathon Burgard.  It was a moving story that I am proud to have been a part of, and it has won numerous accolades and awards for Best Short, Directing, Editing, Music and Mix in over 6 film festivals.

July 2023 I completed sound design and surround mix for a feature film titled “Brain Tumor” by Glen Coburn.  It’s a romp through a “B” movie tongue-in-cheek horror film and it was a blast to be a part of it.  I also got to add a few music cues as well.

For over 35 years Grant has been actively editing audio and video for TV, films, advertising and the corporate world.  He has been sound designing and mixing in 5.1 since 2001, when the film “The Face: Jesus In Art”, was premiered at Radio City Music Hall to an audience of over 3500.

Music Composition

Grant has been writing music for commercials and TV since 1986.  He has scored over 500 TV documentaries, 2 feature length films and 3 short films, as well as hundreds of corporate and political videos.   In many cases, Grant has the ability to compose something for the client in less time than the client can find the right music in a library.

Sound Design & Mix

Grant has been doing sound design for TV documentaries and for films since 1992, and has compiled an extensive sound effects library  over the 30+ years.  River Hills Productions uses Nuendo as it’s main audio post DAW, but has over 30 years experience in ProTools as well.  Grant chose to move to Nuendo due to its ability to allow him to score music as well as edit SFX in the same DAW.  Nuendo supports 22.2 Ambisonics mix, as well as WYSE game audio for PC and game console sound design.

Production

Producing the 13 part series Outback Adventure for Clinton Anderson was one of the most challenging projects I ever had the pleasure of doing.  We spent 24 days in the Australian Outback mustering wild Brumbys, watching Clinton training the Brumby, taking it from a wild horse to a proper working horse for a local stockman.  We shot HD from helicopters, jeeps, horseback, you name it, as well as encountering dingos, camels, feral bulls and the odd brown snake along the way.  Grant produced the live shoot, and then oversaw and participated in the editing for the series, and did all the audio post.
